Pastor's Corner

R.G. LeTourneau, a successful and famous industrialist once penned, ‘A Christian businessman owes as much to God as a preacher does.’ No kidding! Isn’t this a presupposed reality amongst Christians? Does it really need to be stated? Yes, it does need to be stated. And no, few presuppose that they are to be fully committed to Christ. Many assume full commitment to be the sole responsibility of the professional minister.

It is interesting how prevailing cultural ideas are older than modern culture climates.  R.G. LeTourneau’s words were in response to the prevailing notion among the body of Christ in his day. The same idea prevails today and is forcefully being challenged.

The Bible calls followers of Christ to full dedication to Christ and the Church. In Christ we are called to good order and a firmness of faith in Jesus Christ. The church isn’t composed of apathetic patrons or by religious zealots, but twice born people who’ve become servants of God in Christ, for the sake of the assignment they’ve been given.

May God bless His people with abundant thanksgiving as we walk in Christ Jesus the Lord. May we not follow the trends of the world. May we be rooted and built up in Christ, as we are established in the faith.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
(Colossians 2:6–7, ESV)
