America’s return to glory, where things are good and God will be happy with this nation seems like a far off dream. We live in a time where America has fallen from the glory of being the world’s great hope for democracy, peace, freedom, and order. When history is read it is clear that this nation has fallen on the path of other nations, which has been the trajectory of all nations throughout history.

For reasons only know to God, China will be a Christian nation within about 15 years, Lord willing the trends continue. Yes, that’s right, a nation historically bent against any religion, with a gruesome willingness to wipe away any perceived threat against communist atheism has been over run by Christ and His Bride. This is a stark and beautiful reality. Author and theologian  E. B. Johnson said, ‘America is not the world's greatest hope, but Christ is. We watch our beautiful ship go down in flames of our own making and, rightly, shed tears at her decay. But God is not beaten, and the catalyst for our destruction is not the hot button political issues of today, or of 100 years ago, but our pride and reliance on our own ingenuity and goodness to be sufficient.

Take the time to examine what God is doing in the world, and how Christ followers have been called to be in the midst of oppression, flames of war, and misery. Sometimes the hope to return to the glory our nation once knew, a time without religious oppression and hardship, is an act of placing hope in the wrong place. Christ is pushing back the darkness in China, a nation that in all of it’s ways is against God. Let’s not place our hope in our nation, or in what it once was, but let us call for faith in Christ and repentance of sin. Hope of future glory will not be found in any nation, but in Christ Jesus alone.

Colossians 1:27–29, To the saints of God“…He chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
