Pastor's Corner

Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.” (Psalm 111:1–2, ESV)

Praise is befitting of the Lord! It is also good for the heart. Praising God for His works and studying them is a worthy endeavor that bears much fruit.

Why? Well, it takes the heart and mind off upsetting matters of life. Habitual praise of God with one another also aids in getting focus back where God would have it. Waking thoughts placed upon the great works of the Lord can only lead to a vocalization of praise.

Sometimes serious issues take our minds to difficult places. These places can be like a hamster on a wheel. Thoughts are rolled around and around becoming increasingly burdensome. Cyclical thoughts, running through them over and over, building in intensity and despair. A fruitless wearying habit, solving nothing, but bearing a terrible cost. As we gather in the name of Christ give thanks to the Lord with your whole heart in the company of the upright in the congregation. Praising God, giving thanks to the Lord with your whole heart stops the wheel from spinning. Make your praise a purposeful act of rejoicing in God’s works.
